Pastoral Care at Nativity

One of the definitions of the word pastoral’ is “…the work and concern of the shepherd for his sheep.” At Nativity, pastoral care is concern for parishioners and their lives in good times and hard times. Our pastoral care team comprises The Rev. Grey Maggiano, George Douglas, Megan Douglas, Viola Baldwin, Jo Dykes, and Ailsa Tessier, as equal partners in this work.

When someone experiences a loss or requests prayers, and alerts the church or a team member, the information is brought to the entire team and added to our private documentation and prayer list. Team members can then reach out and offer support and prayers. Home communion is always available for anyone who wishes. We may be able to offer other outside resources as needed. All information is kept strictly confidential, and only team members are apprised of any updates.

Meals are another way the pastoral care team and parishioners support each other during difficult times. We use TakeThemaMeal software to set up meals, on a schedule that works for the family. Email Ailsa Tessier to request meals, or to learn more.

To contact the church, call 919-846-8338, or Email Office Administrator. You’re also encouraged to reach out to one of the team members if you have any concerns. We meet monthly to bring any new issues or updates to the team, discuss ongoing concerns, and brainstorm ways to further strengthen our support to the parish. We are humbled by, and thankful for, the trust given to us to support you, our fellow parishioners.
