ScreenStrong Workshop: Kids’ Brains & Screens

Are you concerned about your child’s screen time? Do you wonder how social media, video games, or online content might be affecting their development? If you’re the parent of a K-8th grader, this free workshop is for you!

North Raleigh Presbyterian Church and Church of the Nativity are partnering to host a ScreenStrong Workshop on Monday, October 21, from 6 pm to 8 pm, designed to help you confidently navigate these concerns. Led by Carol Miedema, an experienced educator and ScreenStrong Ambassador, this workshop will equip you with practical strategies to reclaim your kids from harmful screen habits and replace them with healthier alternatives.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to prevent screen addiction and screen-related issues in your home
  • The impact of screens on kids’ brains, backed by medical research
  • Solutions for screen dependency, replacing it with life skill development, family connections, and healthier activities

About the Speaker:

Carol Miedema, M.Ed., M.A., has over 40 years of experience in early childhood education, serving in roles such as teacher, Head of the Lower School, and Associate Director of Admissions at Ravenscroft School. Now a ScreenStrong Ambassador, Carol brings a wealth of knowledge to this important discussion. She’ll provide insight into how parents can take real-world, evidence-based steps to manage screen time and protect their children’s development.
