Easter lilies have been used for many centuries as symbols of purity and immortality.
The lily’s growth cycle from a bulb in the ground to a tall and stately white flower parallels Jesus’s death and resurrection, with the trumpet shape of the flower reminding us that Jesus has risen. At Easter they are often placed in Memorial Gardens and given as gifts to represent purity, renewal and the hope of eternal life.
The Easter lilies in the Nativity Memorial Garden were given by Lesley Troan and cared for by Lesley and Mari Borstelmann.
The bulbs will be planted in the Memorial Garden to begin the next cycle.
