Mark your calendar for December 8 — that is our annual Day of Giving event. It will be held in Corlett Hall beginning at 9:15 am and lasting until around 12:30 pm. We have 15 nonprofit groups in Raleigh planning to be present with displays. The week of December 1–8 is our Week of Giving, introducing all these ministries with directions for making donations. A link to this site will be in next week’s Glad Tidings.
The 15 nonprofit groups that are coming are a variety of ministries that support local and global needs. This year, the local ministries are:
- Inter-faith Food Shuttle
- Wake Habitat Build
- Raleigh/Nativity NAACP Scholarship Fund
- Peggy’s Angel Tree
- Episcopal Farmworkers Ministry
- Leesville Elem Pride Packs
- Raleigh Episcopal Campus Ministry, and
- El Buen Pastor.
More broadly but still in the U.S. are the following ministries
- NC Interfaith Power and Light
- RAFI/USA (farm to church program).
Global mInistries that will be present are:
- Rise Against Hunger
- Uganda Orphans Ministry
- Haiti Reforestation Partnership
- Episcopal Relief and Development
- Abukloi.
This event is an opportunity for you to learn more about these ministries which Nativity supports through the Outreach budget and personal members’ time donated. You can meet staff/volunteers from these organizations, learn about their ministry, and ask questions. And you are encouraged to write a check or leave some cash for those you wish to support financially.
We will also have a handmade crafts/baked goods table which is going to have lots of beautiful items made by our own Nativity members. The profits from this sale will go to the Diocese of Western North Carolina to be used for Hurricane Helene relief. This is a great opportunity for you to help support our neighbors in need as well as jump start your Christmas shopping. If you are donating an item for sale, please bring it to Corlett Hall by Saturday December 7 at 4:30.
Some of you may be unable to attend on the 8th or prefer to make your donations ahead of time. Again, there will be a link to the online Week of Giving in next week’s Glad Tidings. On this site you will be able to get a sneak peek of the many wonderful items that have been donated to raise money for Western North Carolina.
See you on December 8.
