Children are a vital part of our community at Church of the Nativity. Our programs create a space where children can gather and explore their faith through stories, crafts, games, and fun. Nativity strives to provide a positive environment where everyone is accepted and loved. All are welcome.
Children’s Formation
Kid’s Club is our weekly formation program for preschool through fifth grade; the children meet during the Liturgy of the Word portion of our 10:30 celebration of Holy Eucharist. Children sit with their grown-ups at the beginning of the service and then are called forward after the opening prayers for a children’s homily. They then process out with their teachers to a Curry Hall classroom. In Kid’s Club, children explore lectionary-based gospel lessons through stories, conversation, games, crafts, and other activities. They also form relationships with similarly aged church friends. The children rejoin the Eucharist celebration in time for communion.
In-Church Activities
Children are always welcome to remain in the Nave for the service. To help keep them engaged, Gospel lesson coloring pages and crayons are available as part of the Create Your Worship Bag Station, located just outside the nursery at the back of the church. Children can also select different quiet, engaging activities like I Spy packs and Lego building to keep busy during the service.
Nativity Peace Library
Located in the back corner of the worship space, the Nativity Peace Library offers age-appropriate books on faith and social justice. These books can be read in church or checked out to take home.
Special Events
Throughout the liturgical year, special events such as a Christmas Pageant, Easter Egg Hunt, and the annual Blessing of the Animals engage children in meaningful and fun ways.
